M O H is proud to offer two rare stained glass panels by the local architect legend Willam A. Bernoudy.

William Adair Bernoudy (1910-1988) was born in St. Louis and is recognized as a leading advocate of Frank Lloyd Wright’s modern organic architecture. He was among the first charter apprentices in FLW’s Taliesin Fellowship in Wisconsin which opened in 1932.

WAB designed houses that harmonized with the local terrain and fulfilled the needs of his client, he had a 50 plus year career and teamed up with architects Edouard Mutrux and Hank Bauer.

In 1956 Frank Lloyd Wright visited Bernoudy in his Litzsinger home and said “Well Billy, it’s got spirit!”

Wright’s early stained glass windows were a huge influence on Bernoudy who began his stained glass panels in the late 1960s. They were intended to hang within larger expanses of glass windows, and sometimes designed as table or freestanding screens.

Both of the present works were purchased at the Greenberg Gallery, St. Louis (December 1980 - January 1981) from an exhibition devoted to Bernoudy’s glass panels and furniture commissions.

Prices on Request.
